self defence professional girl

Self defence is the Key to Success for Every Professional Girl

Today’s dynamic girls are always ready to work at any time and any place. But for that, they should always be prepared to protect themselves from the outside world. The working professional women may have to travel long distance for their work at any time, maybe late at night as well. They need to go out of the station and stay there for a couple of days or week. They need to travel alone or maybe with a male colleague.  The recent years have never been so safe for working women anywhere in India. Neither male counterparts are safe, nor the taxi or auto drivers. So what should you do for self-defence?

Frankly, if you are well-trained marshal art performer, you can handle their physical harassment better compare to normal girls. So what a not-trained, not-so-strong girl can help her self in some strange situations? Imagine if you are alone in the Lift of any high rise building with a stranger at late night, what will you do? The best you can do is using your smartness. When you enter the lift and you want to go, suppose, to the 13th floor, press all the buttons of the lift so that lift will stop at each floor. This will prevent a stranger to harass you.

What you should do when you are alone at home and a stranger attacks you?

Immediately run in the kitchen. You know where you have kept red chili powder, turmeric powder, knives, and glass plates. These are the best weapons that are always available with you when you are at home.  If you can’t do anything, throw all of these things on that person and start shouting at the top of your voice. Remember, your shouting will be your first approachable weapon if you are living in an apartment, as the person will be afraid of being caught by someone.

When you are traveling alone by Auto or Cab at night?

At the time of sitting in the cab or auto, make sure to give your vehicle’s number to your friend or relative over the phone in the language which is understandable by that driver. While traveling you keep on talking on the telephone with someone, if not, pretend that you are talking with someone and also informing where you are and on which route you are heading so that driver cannot dare to take you at that unsafe place.

What if a cab/auto driver takes you to the route, where you don’t have to go and you think that it will create a problem for you.

At that time with the help of your purse belt or dupatta snatch his neck which will make him helpless. If you don’t have dupatta or belt then don’t worry, snatch his shirt’s collar and it will do the same job and that will give you the time to run away.

If someone is running behind you late night?

Get into someone’s home or shop. If shops are not open then rush to an ATM, as ATMs have cc tv cameras which will capture the culprit’s photo and this kind of people are not ready to bear such things.

We cannot wait for police to come and save us immediately in any such worst situation. This is all about our own self how well we can defend. Don’t stop your growth by being afraid of someone. Live your professional life ‘bindaas’. Better learn self-defence and move forward!

How to Keep Your Mood Happy at Office with Music

How to Keep Yourself Happy With Different types of Music

Our lives are very well connected to music. It is said the music has the ability to change the psyche of a person based on the music. Even music has the power to cure many diseases. Everybody cannot be a good singer or a good instrument player but they can be a good listener! Listening to good music can keep a person happy and healthy from the mind. You can keep yourself happy by listening to different types of music even in the workplace.

Our mythological stories, also suggest that we should play musical instruments even when going for the war. Any good leader trains his/her soldiers and disciplines them with the help of music instruments. Even today our soldiers always have a band of music players. These music players compose tunes in such a way that uplift the mood of the soldiers. The sound of drums and horns always enhance their enthusiasm and motivate them to be alert and ready to attack the enemies of the country.

But music makes the magic only when a person has the idea about what type of music she should listen at a particular time.  Randomly putting on television, radio or music players will not help. To choose the type of music at a particular time and mood will definitely make sense.  So first decide what kind of mindset you want to create and then go for the music. AT workplace, you can increase your productivity by listening to good music while working. In some companies, constant music is played just to keep the team members happy! Such companies always have a very good work culture.

Mornings are always pure. This is the time when our mind is very sensitive, at that time don’t opt for “Dhinchak music” i.e. loud or rock music. It’s better to listen to music that gives peace of mind especially songs of  “Bhairav Raga”. As the day progresses, we get fully charged at that time listening to the music that charges up your pace that matches your inner energy level.  Later in the afternoon, one should think about what kind of mood he/ she wants to make.  If you want to relax your mind, listen to soft music or want to increase the energy, listen to the music accordingly.

Power of Body Language Seminar by Vanitaa Rawat | Women’s Day Special

After 2 back to back seminars on communication, we decided to go with a seminar on “Power of Body Language” to complement the previous two seminars conducted by Nisrin Lokhandwala and RJ Setu. To empower our Girl in Neighbour community members with the knowledge of Body language, this time, we invited powerful and sensational speaker Vanitaa Rawat. Vanitaa has worked with Bank of America as a Senior Operations Manager in the past managing a span of 500 people across countries like India and Costa Rica. Right now, she is a Neuro-linguistic Programming Practioner and a Life Coach and she provides mentoring and gives coaching to the people on various aspects of life ranging from personal and professional growth and vision. To maintain the balance between body language and emotional stablity in life, this seminar was organized EXCLUSIVE on the occasion of Women’s Day celebration for our community members only. Eventually, the seminar turned out to be great fun and learning experience for all the community members.

Shruti felicitating Vanitaa

Out of many important points Vanitaa taught to the members, she mainly emphasized on how to carry your self before meeting with the customer. The major points she mentioned were:

1. Do not walk holding a file or a bag in front of your body, above the stomach.

2. You must sit with straight posture on the chair, not to slouch on front. Not even taking the support of the back of the chair.

3. While discussing with the customer, never put your handbag in between two of you, on the table. It creates a hurdle and that gives negativity.

4. To show your confidence, always talk with the customer by maintaining eye contact. It shows your confidence to the customer.

5. Use your hands effectively while communicating. It will again boost your confidence and make your point more convincing.

sitting posture

Vanitaa talked about the importance of voice pitching also. One should always use voice effectively with body movements. While delivering speech our pitch should not be too low or too high, it should be audible. Keeping voice pitch in control can increase the chance of positive outcome after the meeting. She said, at the time of conversation with someone, one should not be stiff. One should use space to the fullest with full of confidence. Her body should have some movements because body gesture without any movement during conversation is very boring.

how to do meeting

She also emphasized on the pattern of hand-shake with other people. One should hold another person’s hand firm at the time of shake-hand. It will show your interest in that person and at the same time, it will indicate that you are open for a long professional relationship with that person.

how to shake hand

Most of the females in India takes positive complements in other way. Many times it happens that if a male counterpart is giving compliments, females start considering those compliments as a hint of sexual interest but that cannot be the case all the time! While some one is giving you complement accept it with a positive gesture of taking and not throwing it out. You should try to throw the negative comments given to you by someone and stop apologizing as you cannot make everyone happy!

women community india

Her final point to the community females was to stop being a “superwoman” all the time and start enjoying the life to the fullest! She believed in expressing own self in any situation but at the same time, one should keep the things very easy to nurture the relations.

Vanitaa Rawat is the face of Indian females in the society and she inspires many women to live life on own terms. Vanitaa, you are a beauty!

Marriage Fear

6 Reasons that Keep Girls Away from Marriage Decision

Which one word gives the nightmare to a girl above age 21? If you are thinking the same what most of the girls think then the word came in your mind is correct, it is Marriage. Traditionally it is said that “Shaadi ka Laddu khaye wo bhi pachtaye or na khaye wo bhi pachtaye”. Every girl wants to get marry but at the same time, in some corner of her heart, she has some fear about changes that will occur in her life after the marriage. Today we are living in the modern era, where there is no such big change can happen in any girl’s life but then to changes has to happen. Today let’s have a look at the reasons why girls are facing Marriage Phobia.

1. Fear to lose Independence: In today’s era, we are living in very much free atmosphere, where no one is blind to give any answer to anyone about their life. If a person is single she can come and go anywhere anytime for anything but once you are married, there will be definitely some restrictions for which today’s girls are not mentally prepared to follow.

2. Big Change in Life: When you get two from one, many changes occur in your lifestyle. Sometimes many things have to be compromised, maybe because of your spouse choice or tastes. Girls may have fear of that big change, as she has to leave her own home and has to go to her spouse place.

3. No more pampering: Every girl is the princess of her parents. Brought up of the girls must be full of pampering, so these girls being pampered angel will have a fear that she might not get the same comfort zone at the new place.

4. Career Obstruction: When a girl gets married, obviously her responsibilities will also increase. Or there might be the mindset of some families in a country like India that a girl should not work after her marriage“Hamari Bahu Bahar Kaam Nahi Kar Sakti”. So these girls who are learned and smart cannot sit at home and this leads to the creation of tension for such girls.

5. Commitment phobia: Today’s girls are educated and earning, so these girls have their own choice of living. So they have the fear “what if things do not work properly”?, “what if they don’t compete with one another”?

6. Maintaining the “Marriage Protocol”: As soon as a girl gets married, expectations start from her family like having kids, taking care of them, saving for their education, etc. and thus a girl will have a fear that she may lose her own choice of living.

5 Strong Reasons Why a Girl Should Work after Marriage

A Girl, after her marriage from daughter – she becomes daughter in –law, wife and eventually a mother. And thus she gets so busy in her family responsibilities that she forgets her own dreams. She leaves her work and performs her routine duties.

In a country like India, a daughter is brought up with the thought that her primary duty is to take care of her family after marriage.

But trust her, she has the capability of doing both the things simultaneously i.e. taking care of the family as well as work professionally.

Here are the five strong reasons why a girl should “WORK” ever after marriage.

1. Self-Respect: When a woman curtailed herself from professional life after marriage, she loses her creativity, productivity as well as confidence in herself. Better, she should work, although with time management that will definitely give her self-satisfaction of doing something.

2. Financial Freedom: Although her husband is earning a handsome amount but spending your own earned income gives you different joyful feelings. One will not be dependent on a husband for small things. Even she can do savings for her future necessities.

3. Family Support: All the time is not the same, you never know when the time changes. Working women will definitely give a hand of support to her family at the time of crisis.

4. Role Models for your Children: Parents are always the first teacher of their kids-specially moms. If mom is professionally active, her children will definitely follow her. At the same time mom will always be respected as she is learned and contributing productively in the society.

5. Self-Development: Learning new things means giving oneself a chance to develop. One cannot develop herself only by sitting within the four walls. For her own development, she has to go out and experience new things which help her to develop to the fullest.

Career options available for girls are a Nutritionist, Digital Marketing, Financial Advisors, Company Secretary, C.A., Hospitality, Aeronautics and many others.

So girls, what are you waiting for? Just pull your socks and paint your life with flying colours!

precious gift

The Most Precious Gift of God – Kids

Being parents is not an easy job. It requires a lot of patience, understanding, strictness as well as happiness. No human is perfect, so don’t go behind your child to make him perfect. Let us be our children’s best friend.

1. Never compare: Every child has different potential. No human is the same, so never compare your child with anyone else child, this may make your child either violent or depressed.

2. Have two-way communication: Don’t give unnecessary lectures to your kids on small things. If he is listening to you, he will respond to you and if he is not responding to you that means he is not listening to you or ignoring your lecture. Give him a chance to reply you as well as share his views.

3. Read books with them: Books are said to be the best friend of man. Your child will follow your footprints. To make your child read books with them and also discuss the contents of the book that will motivate him for reading books.

4. Teach your kid to face failure: While playing with your kid, never defeat yourself to make him win the game. Because if he does not face the failure from the beginning his future will be dark. So make him understand the reality of life.

5. Try to handle your work pressure: Don’t spoil your home’s atmosphere because of your work pressure as it will create a negative impact on your child’s mindset about your career.

6. Keep the atmosphere of your home happy: Atmosphere of your home plays a very important role in your child’s brought up. If possible try to avoid arguments amongst family members in front of the kids, as it creates a negative impact on the little mind. If you are happy, you will help your child to be more productive.

7. Teach them to develop a good relationship: Every human being is a social animal, so we need people to be with. Teaching your kids to maintain good relations and making friends will make his life happy and comfortable.

8. Allow them to play with mobile and watch television: Watching TV and playing with mobile is not wrong. The only thing we should keep in mind is to restrict the timings. It will definitely help them to upgrade and another thing is, they will not divert to someone else who offer them such gadgets. Better help them to use it productively.

9. Cherish them: Appreciation will motivate them to perform better. Admire them on their good behaviour, good habits  even their small success which will motivate them to do better in the future

Let’s enjoy our child’s childhood!
